La Parroquia

La Parroquia is a cherished gem in our city! Built in the early 18th century, the original parish was a Baroque structure from 1709. In 1880, Bishop Zeferino Gutiérrez inspired a stunning new neo-Gothic façade, drawing from postcards of medieval European cathedrals. The pink quarry stone spires have become a beloved symbol of San Miguel!

San Rafael Church

Right next to the Parroquia, you'll find the delightful San Rafael or Santa Escuela Church, which has been charming visitors since 1564! It’s the oldest religious building in the heart of San Miguel and features a beautiful Baroque façade. Did you know that in 1762, they added a clock to the original church tower? Templo de San Francisco

The festivities begin on the evening of September 15th with El Grito, where the mayor leads the celebration from Ignacio Allende's home, echoing Miguel Hidalgo's famous cry from 1810. As "¡Viva México!" rings out, the next day features lively parades throughout the streets.

In San Miguel, the wet season brings charming overcast skies, while the dry season delights with lovely partly cloudy days. The weather stays warm throughout the year, with temperatures usually ranging from 41°F to 85°F, and it's rare for it to drop below 36°F or climb above 91°F. Set at an elevation of 6,400 feet, San Miguel enjoys a fantastic high, dry climate. Thanks to this elevation, even the warmest days cool off nicely at night, making air conditioning more of a luxury than a need.

San Miguel is a sunshine lover's paradise all year long! In March, enjoy a delightful 8.9 hours of bright sunshine each day, and even in September, our cloudiest month, we still get a lovely 6.6 hours. With so much reliable sunshine and lovely temperatures, outdoor adventures are pure joy throughout most of the year!
