We’ve always dreamed of a special place that brings joy into our lives, surrounded by kind people in a home rich with history and culture. In San Miguel de Allende, we found that and more!
We took the leap and bought an old home, remodeled it, and made the exciting move. Some thought we were wild; others admired our courage. But we knew it was the right choice, and we’ve never looked back!
Now, just five miles from San Miguel’s heart, we’re building Rancho Las Libélulas (Dragonfly Ranch)—a six-acre permaculture farm that is a new chapter in our journey toward sustainable living. It’s about nurturing community and demonstrating harmony between humans and nature.
We created La Vida San Miguel to share our adventures and highlight amazing discoveries. It’s a chance to celebrate local talent and give back to the welcoming community that embraced us.

Our Shared Vision
Together for 28 years, with four children and five grandchildren, we’ve discovered that our combined passions for hospitality, wellness, real estate, and sustainable living have led us to something greater than we imagined.
Through La Vida San Miguel, we channel everything we’ve learned to help others experience the magic we’ve found here. Carrie’s 25+ years of real estate expertise and Bill’s background in hospitality make us your trusted guides in finding the perfect San Miguel home, planning new builds, or navigating renovations.
We’ve been through every step ourselves—from house hunting and fourteen months of renovation to building relationships with artisans and contractors. Now, we love sharing that knowledge with newcomers, making the process of settling into San Miguel joyful and seamless.

Carrie’s Journey
Carrie’s adventurous spirit has taken her from Colorado’s mountains to Utah’s slopes, Bermuda’s pink sands, and Florida’s emerald coast. After graduating from the University of Colorado Boulder, she became one of Sotheby’s International Real Estate’s top agents worldwide for over 25 years—first in Park City, then along Florida’s stunning Panhandle.
As a licensed massage therapist passionate about wellness, she’s often found on her yoga mat at sunrise, perfecting her golf swing, or hiking San Miguel’s trails while practicing Spanish. She’s also diving into photography, capturing the stunning light of our new home through the lens of a local artist who has become both mentor and friend.
Bill’s Journey
Bill’s love for Mexico began in childhood—spending his first twenty years across Latin America as his father served with the U.S. State Department. After earning his degree from Cornell’s School of Hotel Administration, he spent over 45 years developing luxury boutique hotels and award-winning restaurants internationally.
His expertise as a wine judge for prestigious competitions and invitations to cook at the James Beard House highlight his deep understanding of exceptional hospitality. Now, with fluent Spanish and a growing passion for permaculture farming, Bill is dedicated to creating a sustainable farm village that honors Mexican traditions and environmental stewardship.
